22marbles est un projet de composition et performance de Véro Marengère et Martin Marier. Joignant leurs intérêts pour l’improvisation et les sons électroniques haptiques, leur travail propose une approche à la fois slowtech et do-it-together (DIT).
Jouant d’un instrument numérique inventé par Martin – l’Éponge – les artistes créent un espace ludique d’écoute approfondie. La communication continue entre les éponges et les humains évoque une approche musicale minimaliste, bruitée, mutualiste et empathique.
L’Éponge comporte différents capteurs qui détectent quand elle est tordue, pressée ou secouée. Les données captées sont ensuite envoyées vers un ordinateur qui les traduit en son via SuperCollider. L’Éponge est jouée à travers le monde et est bien connue au sein de la communauté New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME).
Serpens est le premier album du duo. Il a été produit en 2020 au Plaza Atelier du son et le matriçage fut réalisé par Philippe Vandal.

22marbles is a composition and performance project by Véro Marengère & Martin Marier. Joining their interests for improvisation and haptic electronic sounds, their work proposes a slowtech and a do-it-together (DIT) approach.
Playing a novel digital instrument invented by Martin – the Sponge – the composers create a playful space of focused listening. The ongoing communication between the sponges and the humans evokes a minimalist, noisy, mutualist and empathetic approach to music making.
The Sponge is made of various sensors that can detect when it is squeezed, twisted or shaken. Sensor data is then sent wirelessly to a computer that translates the data into sounds via SuperCollider. The Sponge is featured in performances all over the world and is widely known in the New Interfaces for Musical Expression community (NIME).
Serpens is the first release of the duo. It was produced in 2020 at Plaza Atelier du son. Mastering by Philippe Vandal.
