François Girouard est un compositeur et multi-instrumentiste né à Joliette en 1976. Ses études en composition électroacoustique à l’Université de Montréal avec Jean Piché l’ont amené à créer plusieurs musiques pour la danse, dont The Stick par Andrew Tay (co-création avec Jérémie Jones, 2011), As You Can See, Espace Vert et Twis-Manivelle par Marie Béland (2007, 2006 et 2005), HopeMachine et O!SweetMediatrix de Virginia Preston (2005 et 2002), Du pittoresque en danse de Frédéric Gravel (co-création, 2004) et La fable hymnemobile d’Ingrid Belley (2001). Il compose aussi pour le théâtre, Não Querer Saber De Nunca Saber Para Onde Ir par Ezaak Ez (2022), En dehors de moi et She par Noé Cropsal et Myriame Larose (co-création avec Jérémie Jones, 2014 et 2012), Tailladés par Sophie Rouleau (2005) ainsi que Cocktail et Le maître et Marguerite par François Geoffroy (2003 et 2001).
Il a aussi plusieurs performances en solo à son actif, Paysages Inutiles, Untitled 15 et Curiosités furent présentées à Macao en Chine (2016, 2015 et 2014), La Vie en Pink et 5 courtes pièces pour une valise et son contenu furentprésentées à Montréal (2013 et 2012) et Labyrinthine Patchwork Monolith fut présentée à Toronto (2007).
En 2015 il a lancé son premier album de musique électroacoustique, Bestiaire (Cycle de Fées). Il a auparavant remixé et recomposé certains enregistrements des performances du groupe d’artiste estonien NON GRATA, on peut entendre le résultat sur l’album Voice of Invisibles paru en 2008.
Vétéran de plus de 1000 concerts sur 3 continents avec plusieurs formations variées (Dat Trio, WhyOceans, Music for Money, Curse in the Woods, The BrassMob, 01ek, The Frootfly, Dynamo Coléoptera, Fat Tuesday Brass Band, La Fanfare Carmagnole, Trio no.5, Les Standards, l’Orchestauro, Serial Numbers et Mortabelle/Unduo), il compose et enregistre les batteries pour l’album Toro du groupe Music for Money (2015). Il compose également la batterie, la guitare, le banjo et la scie musicale pour l’album …The Deal They Made par le groupe Curse in the Woods (2012) ainsi que la guitare sur 3 albums de la formation Frootfly dont un album triple (2006, 2005 et 2003). Il a aussi produit et réalisé l’album éponyme du groupe Dynamo Coléoptera (Lauréat du premier prix au Concours Mon Accès à la Scène 2007), où il y joue la batterie et un grand nombre d’instruments de tous types (2008).

In 2015 he released his first electroacoustic album, Bestiaire (Cycle de Fées). He had previously remixed and recomposed some of the recordings from performances by the Estonian artist group NON GRATA; the result can be heard on the 2008 album Voice of Invisibles.

He also created the drums, the guitar, the banjo and the musical saw on the album …The Deal They Made by Curse in the Woods (2012) and composed and recorded the guitars on 3 Frootfly albums (2006, 2005 and 2003), one of which is triple-length. With Dynamo Coléoptera (first prize-winner of Concours Mon Accès à la Scène in 2007), he recorded and produced their self-titled album (2008) in which you can hear him play drums and a variety of different musical instruments.
